On the southern side you can go hiking in the shadow of the Dolomites at the heart of South Tyrol between Bressanone, the cultural capital of Tyrol, the city of Bolzano on the intersection of northern and southern culture and the spa town of Merano. On the first part of the walk the "Keschtnweg" (way of chestnut) will show you the direction and presents you the Dolomites in the south like a terrace. From the popular summer resort of the noble Bolzano, the Renon, you will pass the Dolomites very closed.

Wine and fruit gardens line your path on the second section of the hiking tour through one of the most beautiful areas of South Tyrol in the center of the South Tyrolean wine industry.
The Kalterer See - South Tyrol's most famous lake - is another highlight on this walk through South Tyrol. Castles, palaces and manor houses dominate the landscape on the south tyrolean wine road between Bolzano and Merano and numerous wineries invite you to sample the best south tyrolean wines. In the footsteps of empress Sissi, Merano enchants with its charm of bygone days. The exquisite food along the route, as well as the excellent panorama make the trek to a unique experience.
