Start in Rothenburg's medieval old town with its well-preserved city walls and picturesque market square. Continue to Ansbach, renowned for its margrave residence and the charming Orangerie in the court garden.

The route leads through scenic valleys to Wettelsheim, where you can relax at the Altmühltherme or explore the remnants of the Karlsgraben, an early medieval canal project. In Eichstätt, marvel at the baroque charm of the town, the impressive cathedral, and the Jura Museum in Willibaldsburg Castle. In Beilngries, highlights include the historic town hall and the Main-Danube Canal.

In Kelheim, the striking Liberation Hall awaits, and a detour takes you to Weltenburg Abbey and the breathtaking Danube Gorge. Your journey ends in Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its majestic cathedral, Stone Bridge, and historic old town. This tour is a perfect blend of culture, history, and natural beauty.

Day 1: Arrival in Rothenburg
Hand out of RENTAL BIKES and information material. Private parking space (unguarded).

Day 2: Rothenburg - Ansbach (Cycling 54 km / 34 miles)
Past the powerful Castle Colmberg to Ansbach. Overnight in a 3***Hotel.

Day 3: Ansbach - Wettelsheim (Cycling 61 km / 38 miles)
To the medieval town Gunzenhausen, the Lake Altmühlsee and through the now narrower Altmühl Valley to the Karlsgraben and your destination for the day.

Day 4: Wettelsheim - Eichstätt (Cycling 50 km / 31 miles)
Past Treuchtlingen through the silent, charming valley of the nature reserve Altmühl passing the "Twelve Apostle Rock" into the bishop town Eichstätt.

Day 5: Eichstätt - Beilngries (Cycling 44 km / 28 miles)
Passing Pfünz with a Roman castle you cycle to Kinding or Beilngries.

Day 6: Beilngries - Essing/Kelheim (Cycling 42/51 km / 26/32 miles)
From Dietfurt the valley gets busier; the Main-Danube-Canal with its ships mark this part. Past Riedenburg to Essing or Kelheim and to the mouth of the Danube. Optionally Danube ship trip to the Abbey Weltenburg (approx. every hour: ? 9,- on the spot; roundtrip).

Day 7: Essing/Kelheim - Regensburg (Cycling 47/38 km / 29/24 miles)
Past Bad Abbach you reach Regensburg. Guided tour through the "Reichstagssaal" and torture museum.

Day 8: End of the tour

Transfer back to Rothenburg/T. or extra nights in Rothenburg or Regensburg. Transfer of own bicycles is possible.
