This cycling tour takes you to the Ausseerland where you will enjoy alpine pastures surrounded by high mountains. Nestled between the lakes are charming cities such as Bad Aussee, St. Gilgen and Oberhofen. A highlight of the tour is a visit to Salzburg, filled with its historic old town, the fortress and amazing pastry! Tour Details: You'll be enjoying designated bike paths for the majority of this tour. On some occasions, you'll follow lightly-travelled side roads through small towns. The path follows a few uphill grades, but they don't last long. Plus, you get amazing views at the top! We recommend you be in average or above average shape to take this tour.

Day 1: Arrival Lake Wolfgangsee Your tour starts at Lake Wolfgangsee, one of the largest lakes in the Salzkammergut region. Overnight in Abersee, St. Gilgen, Strobl or St. Wolfgang. Day 2: Lake Wolfgangsee - Salzburg, 49 km Today's ride follows the bike trail along the lake to the Mozart village of St. Gilgen and then on to Lake Mondsee. A section of the path follows the former railway tracks to Salzburg. Your ride ends with a fun 10 km long descent into Salzburg .Don't forget to enjoy the view as you glide downhill! Enjoy your cozy hotel in Salzburg that evening. - Overnight Salzburg Day 3: Train to Oberhofen - Lake Mondsee - Lake Attersee - Attergau, 49 km Your day starts by catching a train in Salzburg. Your bike tour begins in Oberhofen by the romantic lake of Irrsee. When you reach Mondsee, it might look familiar since this is the area where the Captain and Maria got married in the Sound of Music. From here, continue following the bike path along Lake Mondsee to Lake Attersee. The Attergau region lets you see authentic Austrian culture. Tonight you can rest your head in the charming town of St. Georgen. - Overnight St. Georgen Day 4: Lake Attersee - Lake Taunsee, 45 km Today's route takes you on the lakeside road along Lake Attersee and next to beautiful Lake Traunsee. Enjoy the picturesque lakeside city of Gmunden by walking the 120 meter wooden bridge out to a castle set on its own small island. Continue your ride along Traunsee Lake, passing the historic village of Traunkirchen to Ebensee. - Overnight Traunkirchen or Ebensee. Day 5: Lake Traunsee - Lake Hallstatt, 30 to 40 km This morning the route follows the Traun River upwards to the Emperor City of Bad Ischl. Be sure to visit the Emperor Villa and the famous pastry shop of Zauner. In the afternoon, you'll follow the Traun River along the historic brine pipeline trail to Bad Goisern. Then you'll spend the night in Hallstatt or Bad Goisern. - Overnight Bad Goisern or Hallstatt. Day 6: Roundtrip tour Ausseerland, 45 to 55 km Today you'll experience an enjoyable round trip route. Start the day with a train trip to Tauplitz, where you will find a wide valley with spectacular mountain ranges on both sides. Enjoy cycling through meadows and alpine pastures dotted with chalets and contented cows. Feeling athletic? Bike over a small mountain pass to Lake Grundlsee. Not so energetic? Stay on the river bike trail to Bad Aussee. The last part of the trail leads you along the river passing the nature reserve of Koppenvalley. You'll return tonight to your hotel in either Bad Goisern or Hallstatt. - Overnight Bad Goisern or Hallstatt. Day 7: Lake Hallstatt - Lake Wolfgangsee, 30 to 40 km Your ride this morning starts with a scenic ferry ride across the lake. From there, follow the lovely cycle trail along Lake Hallstatt to Bad Goisern and on to Bad Ischl. If you didn't not visit the emperor villa on day 5, you have time today. Afterwards you will cycle back to Lake Wolfgangsee. - Overnight Abersee, St. Gilgen, Strobl or St. Wolfgang Day 8: Departure
