Day 1: Individual Arrival in Montbard
The hometown of naturalist Buffon is a charming little town situated in the Brenne Valley and along the Canal de Bourgogne. Just a few kilometers away lies the UNESCO World Heritage Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay, a must-see for visitors.

Day 2: Montbard - Tonnerre (approx. 60 km)
Your first cycling stage follows the Canal de Bourgogne past Buffon's ironworks to the Renaissance Château of Ancy-le-Franc. This château, one of Burgundy's finest Renaissance castles, was designed in 1545 by the renowned architect Serlio. A few kilometers further, you'll encounter another Renaissance masterpiece, the moated Château of Tanlay. The day ends in the town of Tonnerre.

Day 3: Tonnerre - Joigny (approx. 55 km)
After breakfast, take some time to explore Tonnerre. Highlights include the Hôtel-Dieu, a 13th-century charity hospital, and the mysterious "La Fosse Dionne," a spring that served as a medieval washhouse. Continue cycling along the towpath of the Canal de Bourgogne to reach Joigny, a designated "Town of Art and History."

Day 4: Joigny - Auxerre (approx. 35 km)
Today's route follows the banks of the Yonne River to Auxerre, a picturesque city rich in art and history. Don't miss the Gothic Cathedral of Saint-Étienne, the Saint-Germain crypt with France's oldest frescoes, and the charming old quarter. The 15th-century clock tower is a particular highlight.

Day 5: Auxerre - Clamecy (approx. 64 km)
Cycle along idyllic paths and the towpath of the Canal du Nivernais to Bailly, home of Crémant de Bourgogne sparkling wine. Enjoy a wine tasting before continuing along the canal past Mailly-le-Château and the limestone cliffs of Rocher du Saussois to Clamecy. Today's stage recalls the historic importance of the Canal du Nivernais, once a vital route for timber floated to Paris.

Day 6: Clamecy - Vézelay (approx. 31 km)
Today's route is a true highlight, combining the picturesque charm of Clamecy with the world-famous heritage site of Vézelay. This Romanesque gem, known as the "Wonder of Light," is an unforgettable destination.

Day 7: Vézelay - Avallon (approx. 27 km)
Cycle through the scenic landscapes of Vallonnais and the Cousin Valley to Avallon, a town brimming with history and charm.

Day 8: Return Transfer to Montbard, Individual Departure, or Extension
Conclude your journey with a transfer back to Montbard, or extend your stay to explore further.
